What is IPSec VPN?

Internet Protocol security (IPSec) is a framework of open standards for helping to ensure private, secure communications over Internet Protocol (IP) networks through the use of cryptographic security services. IPSec supports network-level data integrity, data confidentiality, data origin authentication, and replay protection. Internet Protocol Security (IPsec) VPN refers to the process of creating and managing VPN connections or services using an IPsec protocol suite. It is a secure means of creating VPN that adds IPsec bundled security features to VPN network packets. IPsec VPN is also known as VPN over IPsec.
